My son just bought a house with what appears to be a tuff shed in the backyard. It’s really nice, but it has a crowned floor. I’m hoping someone could shed some light on why this is (pun intended)…

I too bought a house with a tough shed in the back yard. It appeared to be in good shape but after having plastic bins on the floor for a year I recently moved them and found mold under the bins. I think the floor system has settled into the ground below. I was hoping to see a print or something so I can plan how to remove the top of the shed and solidify the footing under the floor. The floor boards are pretty much ruined. I realize this is not Tough she’d fault I am just looking for some help. Thanks in advance.

What is the load limit per square foot of the floor

Hi Mike, the steel floor joists at 24″ are rated 75 pounds per square foot (PSF) when continuously supported (i.e.- sitting on a concrete pad). If the floor is blocked up off the ground, the rating is 50 PSF. We hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi, I have a 12’x 16′ Tuff Shed. The 16′ walls are load bearing. Can you tell me in lbs per foot what the load capacity is on these long members of the steel foundation.

I’m going to make a Tuff shed bigger. Know I have a 8’ X 10’ I’m wanting to make it a 8’ X 18’ where can I get the 2”X 6” galvanized floor joists. I went to Home Depot and Lowe’s can’t find them . Does Tuff shed sale a 8’ X 8’ galvanized floor joist kit . If not where can I get the materials?

If you’ve already got the LP Treated SmartFloor decking, you’re all set. If you’re working with OSB flooring, we recommend using an oil-based primer prior to painting or covering the floor. We hope that helps.

I bought a 12×16 shed and I’m doing some shovel work to get the area ready for install. What ate the measurements/locations of the floor supports so I will know exactly where to have level spots for the blocks to sit?

Hi Charles, our garden series buildings feature wood bases with joists 16″ apart. If you purchased a Premier or PRO series building, the floor joists will be 24″ apart. We hope that helps but please let us know if you have any other questions.

Can Tuff Shed provide a 20 foot wide by 16 foot deep size with a 9 foot ceiling in front sloping to 8 feet in the back? I am looking for a wood shed that will hold 15 to 20 cords of wood and my splitter. Also would need sliding barn doors as opposed to open-out doors that would require a lot of snow shoveling. The front to back sloped roof is so the snow and rain will flow off the back and not freeze up in front or next to the shed.

hello- I ordered a Tuff Shed at Home Depot (Sundance Series SR-600). Does this have the same floor as described above? The Smart Floor 3/4″ which I wont have to waterproof or coat as it already is???? I live in San Diego, not a lot of rain. But was wondering is getting the upgrade to the double floor was of any need..

Hi Ted, our Sundance Series base model does not include the LP SmartFloor, as it is an upgrade through that line. If you’d like to add a water resistant coat to the OSB floor in your building, we recommend an oil-based paint. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Can I install a hardwood or pine floor over my existing tuff shed floor. Nail or glue?

I just had a 10×20 sundance 700 series installed. I have the ¾” treated flooring, but want to extend the life and prevent spills from seeping in and damage from tools / traffic. Would a vinyl covering trap moisture beneath or would it be more effective to cover the entire floor with a garage floor epoxy/sealer?

Hi James, congratulations on your new building! Between the two, an epoxy would be the best choice for the floor covering as it will not allow for any moisture build up in between the two layers. However, if you got the Smart Floor upgrade with your new building, you won’t need to worry about an additional floor treatment.

What is the advantage I would get by upgrading from the standard Smartfloor to the double layer Smartfloor in regards to strength or any other advantages?

Hi Robert, the SmartFloor upgrade adds an extra layer of protection to an already sturdy floor. It provides a barrier that allows spills to materials to wipe away when spilled.

Where can I locate tiny “vents” to pop in those air holes on the metal base flooring? Home depot was no help at all.

Do you have a video showing how to replace rotting floors have a 10 x 15 I believe… All floors are rotted to the 2×4 It has been taken out need to replace new floor

So, to clarify Dan, the 50 PSF does not mean you cannot go over 50 lbs in a square foot area. Rather, to determine whether the floor will hold your sleds, you would multiply 10X12 (120) to get your floors sq ft. 120 sq ft X 50 PSF = 6000 lbs. In essence 50 PSF means 50 lbs over each sq ft. I think your floor, if rated at 50 PSF, should easily hold your two sleds at a total of 1048 lbs. Hope this helps brother.

I have a beautiful 14×20 tuffshed. Unfortunately i had a fire this past Christmas and need to replace 2 of the floor boards. I like everything to be dress right dress and dont want to replace it with a cheap OSB 3/4x4x8.. Does anyone know if Tuffshed sells the flooring separately?

Do you have a suggestion of material/items that I might use to block access of varmints to under my shed through the vents? Was thinking of using screening but not sure how to attach it to the metal base. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am preparing my site for a 10×12 tuff shed. At the corners, I have a 10″ drop, 24″ drop, and an 18″ drop. I constructed 4 16×16 cinderblock piles and made them level. Where else do I need to place supports?

Just confirming that the Metal Floor Joists run to the width direction, not the length diection, in a 10 x12 shed. The joists would then be 10 feet..Correct ? They run side to side and not from front to rear ?

Hi,
I just ordered my 12×16′ Premier Pro Tall Barn. I’ve upgraded the walls & roof to 2×6’s and added 1′ to the wall height. I’ll be building in my own loft at a later date. The building will be insulated and finished to used as an office space. I ordered it with plans put it on a gravel pad, but am considering upgrading to a concrete pad due to the size and use of the building. Will the building I ordered be constructed the same regardless, in case I change my mind and go with the concrete?

So what is the advantage of the galvanized joists vs. pressure treated wood? Can you avoid using a concrete slab with one or the other?

Hi Ethan, they’re both great options. Both bases can certainly be placed directly on the ground without a concrete slab underneath, however that is also dependent on the building size. Our galvanized steel foundation is an upgrade and is designed to prevent moisture wicking. We hope that helps but if you do have any further questions, your local team will be happy to help.

I am looking at buying your premier pro tall ranch 12 x16 shed. I was not planning to use a concrete slab underneath. I want to store two snowmobiles in the shed. The snowmobiles weigh about 500 pounds each. Will the flooring handle this load well?

Is there a way to attach skirting to the galvanized steel base? We’d like to use lattice and a screen to keep critters out from underneath. We have seen photos of other Tuff Sheds with lattice skirting. We just can’t figure out the best way to attach it to the steel base.

Wondering for leveling prep on a 12×12 premier pro, if ground under center of shed is slightly low, will center be blocked also or will just the corners be blocked for leveling?

Hello,
We have 2 tuff sheds and both of them have small vent holes in the metal exterior that meets the ground. This has allowed a swarm of bees to enter under the tuffshed. There are so many bees that we cannot enter the shed. Someone told us you have covers for those holes. I live near Azusa California would you be able to tell me if there is somewhere on your website where I can order the covers?
