Patzcuaro is a small colonial town situated in the green hills of Michoacan at an elevation of 7200 feet. Founded in 1533 by Vasco de Quiroga, it is a beautiful town with narrow, cobblestone streets, colonial architecture and a strong, proud indigenous heritage. Besides being a gem in the state of Michoacan, Patzcuaro is renown for its Day of the Dead festivities on November 1 and 2. Since the workshop will start on October 25, you will be well introduced into the workshop when the festivities begin. Some of the days will be spent discovering and sketching in Patzcuaro during The Day of the Dead. We won’t miss the flower markets prior to the celebration! On other days, there will be sketching excursions to nearby villages, Santa Fé de La Laguna, Santa Clara del Cobre, and the ruins at TzinTzunTzan. I am also planning a boat trip on Lake Patzcuaro. |
